Hey all, I'm evaluating my work/life routine today. One way to help me do this is scheduling blocks in my calendar (personal/professional). Helps me to create focus and stay accountable to what's important. I'm curious what works for you?
I have a few non-negotiables every week where they only change if I'm out of town or family plans/happenings come up with no flexibility i.e. sick kid, wedding
One of those is time blocked off for jiu jitsu 3x/week. The class schedule fixed so I always make plans around it. This ensures that I'm always getting time in at least 3x/week for exercise and time with friends.
It's really helped with setting boundaries for everyone in my network as well as protecting my peace!
this is a small thing, but I don't use open calendly links where people can book freely on my calendar. i try to tightly control the booking availaiblity i give people
Nick Lafferty I hear you on morning gym time. That's important. I'm finding a way to bake that into my routine as well. Luckily my gym has a working space. Working on fine-tuning a work / workout circuit routine. Lol
Also, I hear you on the calendly links. I just blocked off my morning and evening times where I can GSD and leave the middle of the day for meetings. I'll give vimcal a try. π
Josh Jamias love that. Non-negotiables have traditionally been hard for me to set. Creating boundaries keeps you productive and honest. I'm trying to carve out 1x/ week to go fly fishing. Active way for me to get outside and shut my brain off (or at least allow it to process things)
Yeah, fishing is awesome! I'm not great at it but I love going. It's become something I do with my kid just about every weekend since July. So now, I get to rack up wins in both parenting and outdoor time.
